Dr. Chauvenet, a physician and sailor, is a long-time chess player and teacher. His father and chess teacher Russ Chauvenet was U.S. Amateur Champion and multi-time state champion in Virginia and Maryland. Dr. Chauvenet is a resident of Arlington and his son teaches math in the Arlington public school system.

Dr. Ryan, a writer and academic, has been teaching chess in area schools for more than fifteen years. He is a thirty-year resident of Arlington and the father of four former Arlington students. Dr. Ryan has longstanding research interests in the history of chess, chess and logic, math, and computer science, and chess and education.

Mr. Carvalho, an IT professional and entrepreneur, is president of the healthcare software company Falcon Oak Solutions and CIO of the nonprofit Museum of Science Fiction. He has children in the Arlington public school system and has served as the chess instructor at Nottingham Elementary School.
Marjorie Myers, Vice Chair, Secretary

Dr. Myers is the former principal of the Spanish-immersion Key Elementary School in Arlington, Virginia, where she was a staunch supporter of the 15-year-old Key School chess club. She holds an Ed.D. in Bilingual Special Education from The George Washington University.
Andrew Rea, Treasurer

Mr. Rea is a U.S. Expert-level chess player and is currently ranked 95th in the United States in age 50-over blitz chess. He is a USCF-certified chess tournament director, a long-time member of the Arlington Chess Club, and has served on the boards of the Virginia Chess Federation and the Virginia Scholastic Chess Association.
